Jane Simpson the energy behind the firms involvement, was pleased with the interest that was generated and money raised, one lady after getting home rang to ask, if there was any courgette cake left as she wished to come straight back ‘to pay whatever for what was left’. Jane and  all the staff at John Earle wished to help  make people very aware of the unquestioning support that McMillan offer at a time of real need. It is best summed up in their own quote
